Blogging on Headlines Today
2 Comments Published by Yazad Jal March 19th, 2006 in Web World, Media, About MeHeadlines Today is having a panel discussion on blogging today at 1:30 pm. I’m on the panel along with Sabeer Bhatia who talks about his new blogeverywhere concept, Pawan Duggal, the IT lawyer, and Arindam Chaudhari of IIPM. Watch it if you can. I’ll post a transcript next week.
Blogs may not be the first place to get breaking news (TV trumps here) but blogs are faster in circulating news. Here’s a small example. Amit Varma points to a good article by Sebastian Mallaby on the auto component industry in Chennai yesterday. The Indian Express republishes it verbatim today.
I think as filter […]
We have a new member of the famous libertarian cartel–Kunal Sawardekar. Hop over to read his blog Ceteris Paribus.
For those who came in late, here’s a brief note on the cartel. We welcome more Indian libertarian bloggers to join in. Write in to us (but beware, you might have to take the test)
Here’s an updated […]
I’m not Schwarzenegger, but I’m back. It’s been a long hiatus necessitated by some important life changing decisions. There’s been a lot going on in blogistan while I was away and I’ve spent a large part of my Sunday catching up. There’s a lot of interesting stuff to write and comment upon, so, without much ado, I’m going to dive in.
Stop Blogging! And join us for the Bombay Bloggers Meet (don’t worry, the blogosphere can spare you for one Sunday afternoon). It doesn’t matter where you blog and what you blog. If you blog, we’d like to meet you!
3pm, Sunday, June 26
The Barista near Regal Cinema (Directions here)
If you have any complaints regarding […]
There’s a lot to read in the latest blog mela hosted on Mall Road (44 posts!) Good work Shivam. For those wanting to jump on the bus, the next mela is being hosted by Saket Vulturo Vaidya.
Bloggers hoping to host a mela need to get in touch with Shanti aunty.
I’ve been debating “truth in blogging” with Dilip D’Souza (largely on email) after his piece on Indicubed, and going back to an older post of his where he said:
Blogs allow you to bypass editors and publish, putting the power of publishing directly in the hands of the writer. That’s often a great boon. Yet consider: […]
I like being a dictator. Yes, yes, I prefer liberty to power, but even the little power in organising a meet and being the final arbiter on venues is intoxicating.
We meet tomorrow, Sunday, May 22, at 3 pm.
The venue is the Regal Barista.
For those who are not acquainted with this great landmark in South […]
As the response has been poor for the meet on May 15th, I’m thinking of postponing the blogger meet to May 22nd. The time is still the same — 3 pm.
We need some good venue suggestions. The place needs to be indoors (too hot to meet outdoors like in a garden), but not […]
My suggestion for the May Meet of the Bombay Blogger’s Blah.
Date: Sunday, May 15, 2004
Time: 3 pm
Venue: Not yet fixed. Needs to be accessible, quiet (so that we don’t have to shout over the music– i.e. CCD is out) and with some coffee / food thrown in. Suggestions please?
As before, this is open to all […]
is like a bakers dozen and concerns itself with the number 13. Last Sunday’s blogger meet had 12 bloggers and 1 non-blogger. And to demonstrate the great power of blogs (or bloggers), within 48 hours, the non-blogger started blogging. Bravo and welcome to the club Chandrahas!
Here are some accounts of the blogger meet:
Arnab has a […]
Asian Age and browser compatibility
11 Comments Published by Yazad Jal April 11th, 2005 in Web World, MediaI like the Asian Age, especially it’s features in the weekend edition, but I rarely link to articles written in the Age. There’s a good reason. If you use Firefox, like I do, you will not be able to view the Age’s website. Go on, click www.asianage.com. You’d get to see this:
“This page can only […]
Hope to meet a lot of bloggers tomorrow. Once again, the details are:
Sunday, April 10, 2004, 3 pm
Cafe Coffee Day, near Pritam Hotel, Dadar East
If you’re coming by train, get off on the Eastern side of Dadar station and ask for Hotel Pritam — it a 2 minute walk. The CCD is quite prominently located […]
My suggestion for the April Meet of the Bombay Blogger’s Blah.
Date: Sunday, April 10, 2004
Time: 3 pm
Venue: Cafe Coffee Day, near Pritam Hotel, Dadar East (very close to the station and ideal for both Eastern and Western suburbies)
And hey, it’ll be great if we can have some LJers as well.
This is not restricted to the […]
It happens rarely, but the blog Medienkritik has pulled off a little coup by getting the website of Stern, a major newsmagazine in Germany to acknowledge a mistake and change it. Bravo!

While going through the bloggies, I came across this perky article on how to blog. (It won the bloggie for Best Article or Essay About Weblogs). Some nice points. The brackets encapsulate my two paise contribution.
1. write every day.
2. if you think youre a good writer, write twice a day.
6. have comments. dont be […]
Came across Thoreau’s blog via Under the Fire Star. Wonderful concept. And this post hit home as well.
Measure your health by your sympathy with morning and spring. If there is no response in you to the awakening of nature,—if the prospect of an early morning walk does not banish sleep, if the warble of the […]
We had a cozy meet that started in Café Coffee Day, InOrbit Mall, Malad. Amit, Veer and Anand (yes, unlike last time, he located us) were already there. After all the high reviews, I had to have a Qahwah in Malad. I confess it was my second Qahwah in February, but the VT Coffee […]
This week’s blog mela is up at India Uncut. Sterling stuff. Go right there, right now!
And if you’re a blogger and you find yourself in Bombay tomorrow, come over and meet us.
Where? Café Coffee Day, InOrbit Mall, Malad
When? 3 pm
