We want to see politicians cry

Read a very funny cartoon strip today. (This is Our Life, Rajneesh, in the Mid-Day) Here it is, verbatim:

“In reality shows, the losing contestant cries, his teammates cry and in the end even the winner cries. I like it.

We should have something similar with politicians. Put 6 of them on TV and eliminate one every week. After 6 weeks, the winner will become India’s Prime Minister”

“Who would watch it?”

“I think millions will tune in just to see the politicians cry”

I think that hits the nail on the head.

Hey, it’s great to hear that finally a libertarian talking head is being called on mainstream media. Will surely tune in. Will there be a commie too? Will be fun to see you and a commie duel each other.

What day and time does it air?

  4. 4 Yeah

    Best of Luck.

I know Megnad Desai is pretty friendly to free-market ideas…you won’t have a problem there.

I’ll leave you with a thought of Frederic Bastiat:

“The worst thing that can happen to a good cause is, not to be skillfully attacked, but to be ineptly defended.” — Frederic Bastiat

    Best of luck, once again.

What a sadistic idea! To want to see politicians crying! Why not businessmen who cheat their way to the bank? Why not criminals? Why not apathetic ordinary citizens who do a lot every day for which they need to be accountable?

    Why single out politicians?

And why does one want to see others crying at all?

Politicians reflect us. We get the politicians we deserve. For all their fault, it’s very tough to be a politician. I don’t any other profession has as little job security, for one.

..What a sadistic idea! To want to see politicians crying!..

I do not find it sadistic at all. It’s just an idea :/ about what will work on TV!

Why not businessmen who cheat their way to the bank?

Businessmen do NOT cheat their way to the bank. They work hard for their money just as any one of us does. A bit of help from their tax consultant helps them plan their taxes well, thus saving themselves their small pie.

It’s old fashioned to think businessmen are bad! They just manage their finances better than the rest of us. They are the ones why you and a lot of us pay taxes! They are the ones why you enjoy your house(one of them built it for profit), your clothes, your roads and just about anything you would wish for!!

While there are some out there to get a quick buck then isn’t everyone on it? Haven’t you faced office politics? Haven’t you ever lied? Why blame them?

I really hope you would stand back and give it a thought!

Sachin: Businessmen are neither good nor bad. They can be either/both.

There are so many cheats who are NOT politicians. Heard of the co-operative scam in Delhi? Nutwar Singh’s friend Andaleeb Sehgal - is he a politician? Harshad Mehta, Abdul karim Telgi, Ketan Parekh?

Why do you think the Delhi police has an economic offences wing?!

While there are some out there to get a quick buck then isn’t everyone on it? Haven’t you faced office politics? Haven’t you ever lied? Why blame them?

That’s what I am saying: why blame politicians either?
