Bombay Blogger Meet - May 22nd
Published by Yazad Jal May 13th, 2005 in Web WorldAs the response has been poor for the meet on May 15th, I’m thinking of postponing the blogger meet to May 22nd. The time is still the same — 3 pm.
We need some good venue suggestions. The place needs to be indoors (too hot to meet outdoors like in a garden), but not noisy or crowded. A mall might be the best place, but we should avoid Cafe Coffee Day. How about Phoenix at Lower Parel? We can grab a coffee at the Barista (no loud music) and then move on to the large spaces they have in the new block (I think it’s called SkyZone).
Drop in your comments and confirmations here.
Update: Regal Barista it is.
Since the last one was at Dadar, something further along the Western Suburbs would have been nice. What about the Lotus Cafe at the Marriott in Juhu? There’ll definately be space at that time of the afternoon, and it’ll be quiet as well.
I have always been tremendously curious about it. Whats with bloggers meet and coffee? Could it not be possible that bloggers actually prefer tea. Or may be some healthy fruit juice. Is it hep to be drinking coffee? Any urls explaining coffee for the coffee uneducated masses who want to be at a bloggers meet?
A URL doesn’t spring to mind, but you could try RK Narayan’s excellent essay on the subject. This is the book it is found in.
Hey ! thats news ! didnt know there was a Bombay Bloggers group … dunno if I qualify ?? just started bloggin … so does that matter ?

Curious,
There is no “qualification” needed for attending the Blogger’s meet. All intelligent souls are welcome, those who wish to come may well do so whether or not they are from Mumbai, whether or not they are Bloggers
All intelligent souls are welcome
That definitely sounds like a qualification to me. ;)
Madman,
Everybody perceives themselves to be intelligent these days. As a matter of fact if someone is a regular blogger he acquires somewhat of a right to think of himself as intelligent.
Not much of a qualification
Saket, buddy, you’re scaring people away.
Yazad, with no venue suggestions coming through except mine, it is up to you to take a call and announce a venue. Please be gentle, and do not settle on Thane.
Juhu too far. Marriott too expensive. Let’s either keep it at Phoenix Mills Barista or at the Regal Barista in town. And those averse to coffee shops please note that the recently concluded very successful (21 bloggers!) Bangalore Blogger Meet was held in a Barista.
in town? in town? IN TOWN? (this means I am agitated) - I live in vashi, people - and I have been fighting the inertia and mentally preparing for a trip out of vashi on sunday - so do not discriminate on such demographic counts (such as convenience of those living in the Western suburbs alone)
Count me in… anywhere will be a break from work…
Hey what’s wrong with Thane?
Juhu too far? Babyfaced friend, it’s closer to most of us than town!
Still, you decide fast, or we’ll all be hanging out of trains on Sunday, not sure where to go.
Amit, why don’t you guys have the blog meet in Churchgate station? From there, You can catch a mostly empty train compartment and ride it all the way to Virar and back. That will give you enough time and a venue for the meet. :)
Yazad,
I have already welcomed you as our new overlord on my blog, and would like to confirm my presence for the meet regardless of the venue decided.
Do follow the link.
I vote for Regal Barista. Any place would be fine by me though.
I vote against the Regal Barista. I vote against any place south of Dadar.
Emperor Yazad has already proclaimed the Regal Barista as the venue
Dear fellow subjects, let us stop squabbling and bide by the emperor’s decision
I like MadMan’s suggestion. YJ, please keep it in mind for next time. The sole problem might be the presence of bhajan singers, which will perforce turn the bloggers’ meet into either a bloggers-singing-bhajans meet or a bhajan-singers-turned-bloggers meet. Either prospect alarms me.
But wait. IT’s Sunday, and bhajan singers don’t venture into trains on Sunday. Do they attend church?
Never mind.
Count me in too. Any place would do.
If it’s definitely Regal Barista I’m in :)
What are the directions?
Although I was instrumental in ending the confusion and democratic debate by welcoming Yazad as the Emperor of Mumbai Blogger’s society and appealing to him to rule with an iron fist, I’d be damned if I knew how one actually got to the regal barista
I emphatically declared that all the subjects will follow if Emperor Yazad makes a proclamation, and to keep my promise I need to echo Aadisht’s sentiments.
Pray, tell us how to reach the Regal Barista
Wish you had it on this side of Andheri
