Bombay Blogger’s Meet

We need to meet more bloggers and meet more often. While writing up on the last blog meet, I’d proposed January 30th. How does the Chowpatty Cafe Coffee Day at 4 pm sound? It’s large and 4 pm is a time when I assume it’ll be empty. Plus if more bloggers come out of the woodwork, we can do a takeaway and walk on the beach.

South Bombay? uggh.. Give me a break. I’ll have to come down from Vasai on that day. I will never forgive you for this. I threaten to write and sing a welcome song if you insist on holding it at Chowpatty.

I commute everyday to Andheri but South Bombay is a bit too far away from Ambernath, especially on a Sunday. Do we have an alternative?
Another thing can’t we do this on a Saturday? Sunday is a pain to travel because of the “family crowd” and the little brats.

oh bummer…..i get in on the 1st…….it would be fun to attend a bloggers meet…out in umrica there are no chances of an indie bloggers meet…….at least not in my southeast corner.

A centrally located (and closer to station) venue like Bandra or Dadar would be more convenient to most.
Did you say Jan 30; may be out of town that day :(

I’m game, though I think Dilip might be busy, that’s his 45th birthday! If enough people object maybe we can discuss preponing or postponing it.

But rather than do it through this comments section, which not everyone may read, why don’t we start a google groups thingie including all interested Indian bloggers, which can be used to discuss blogger meet-ups and issues of common interest like the recent plagiarism one, where over 60 mails have been exchanged so far. If you want, I’ll set one up.

    “preponing”? :)

Libertarians have the liberty to use words that don’t exist, so I libertied.

Amit’s google groups idea is cool; we should have one.
Dadar feels more convenient, It is accessible by both the central and western lines.
And (please, please, please) can we meet on a Saturday? — Hate getting into a train on a Sunday.

Ok here’s the rub. I don’t have the time or the energy to actively organise the meet beyond what I have done in this post. A yahoo group does exist (largely dormant). Click here to subscribe or email bombaybloggers-subscribe[at]yahoogroups.com

If anyone would like to suggest a different date / time / venue, go ahead. Unless it is extremely inconvinient I’ll be there.

Fair point, Yazad. My suggestion, all: let’s stick to Yazad’s suggested time and place, and if anyone wishes to reschedule, he/she is free to reorganise the gig and coordinate the whole thing. Just tell me the time and date, and I’ll land up.

    Sounds good! Can do!

  12. 12 mandar

Well, in that case, Chowpatty Cafe Coffee Day at 4 pm sounds okay.

    :)
It is just that i couldn’t remember a single joint in Dadar where a group could meet and sit for a long time talking without the management resorting to strong-arm tactics.
Management point well made and taken.
Now, if you want to meet in Ambernath, i know just the place ;)

I’m in and looking forward to meeting !

One of the Worldchanging bloggers is in town on Sunday - Zaid Hassan - might bring him along too

  16. 16 amit varma

Excellent, I can’t wait! I’m in Poona 27th to 30th morning, btw, so no one dare prepone this now. (Sorry, Madman.)

    Good idea
