Cartel Again
Published by Yazad Jal January 17th, 2005 in Web WorldWe keep getting stray references to the libertarian cartel. Here is my original post on it. Looking at it six months down the line, the list of Indian bloggers who fit the bill has increased. (There are many libertarian blogs around the world, but few which focus on India). If you think you too fit the bill, drop me a line. Here’s my list:
Aadisht Khanna
Amit Varma
Chandrachoodan “Ravages” Gopalakrishnan
Gaurav Sabnis
Gautam Bastian (we’d like a post!)
Kingsley Jegan
Madhu “Madman” Menon
Parth Shah / Spontaneous Order
Ravikiran Rao
Yazad Jal / AnarCapLib
And yes, if you think people might miss the humour of us calling ourselves a cartel, feel free to suggest alternatives.

Whatever happened to Aadisht’s domain? It looks like he failed to renew it.
I had renewed it, after which aadisht.net was back up again. I think the problem is with the nameservers, which I re-entered ten minutes ago. If the nameservers are correct this time around, aadisht.net should be back up in forty eight hours.
Alliteration would be nice, so what about Libertarian Lasagna. Well, ok, no. The problem with this is, whenever we get into an argument henceforth, leftists (or other opponents) who are being defeated by reason will find it easy to go ad hominem on us by saying, “Oh, but you’re just a bloody libertarian”, and soon it’ll become a pejorative. They’re always dying to label you, and here we go and label ourselves. I hope we don’t just end up preaching to the converted, incestuously linking madly to each other.
Also, there are so many different types of libertarians that there’s enough diversity here to fill a zoo (without cages). But the leftists will always build a straw man libertarian and attack that to get at us.
On the other hand, we’ll always have at least nine other readers. Hmmm …
(Another alliteration: Libertarian Lobby?)
there’s sunil joshi
Yazad,
Here I go again:
Cartel is not the most appropriate word for this sinister group of individuals; Cabal is better.
Unless of course, blogging is only a front and what you are actually up to is getting together to fix prices or stifle competition in some industry.
Here’s the wikipedia link for cabal
The free loaders?

Yazad, we have to silence him now. I think a couple of .45 shots to the head will do the trick.
MadMan,
A few shots of tequila would suffice :-)
thanks
There’s also Ashish Hanwadikar. Then there is Seven Times Six, my erstwhile coblogger who has been unfairly maligned as a socialist, while all he does is support capitalism, but asks questions about the limits of its powers.
There’s also Nilakantthan R S, whose views tend more towards Nihilism and destruction of all life on earth.

Let’s just say some of us are glad that you are back to blogging on your site. ;)

When did this become the crackpot cabal?
