The TOI article concerns the bust of a prostitution racket which, among other things, was involved in the (illegal) trafficking of minor girls. Does this not strike you as a reasonable cause to pursue? Or would you rather have the police leave those people untouched who regularly lure the unsuspecting village belle into the flesh trade by promising instant stardom and fame?

Ramanujan (aka the observer)

Perhaps we should ponder at what we mean by "(illegal) trafficking of minor girls"

To me that sounds like rape and kidnapping. I'm completely against it. However, I am not against adults voluntarily chosing to sell sexual services (which is what I mean by prostitution).

The TOI article mentions both, and I should have made it clear what I accept and what not. Hope I have now.

In most cases, you won't find whether it was voluntary or not. Remember the poor woman who told the media that Laloo gave her money to buy sweets.-:)

Realities are more complex, dude. Women are in prostitution mostly because they were forced, or they didn't have any other means to feed themselves. Who would think this as a lucrative career ?
