No Blind Watchmaker in India?

I scoured through various bookstores to find Richard Dawkins’ The Blind Watchmaker — and could find it nowhere. I was surprised, because it’s a bestseller. It was on the catalogues of most stores, but not in stock. I was told by both Crossword and Strand that it is out of print in India. Strand kindly offered to import it for me. I took a short cut and had a friend visiting London buy it for me. (Thanks SG!)

The point of this ramble? I have one more book on my “to-read” list. As I am on a ramble, here’s more. While at Strand, I saw Lou Dobb’s anti-outsourcing and anti-trade tirade Exporting America: Why Corporate Greed is Shipping Jobs Overseas (Sorry, I refuse to link to the book). On a whim, I asked the cashier at Strand how many copies were sold. The enthusiactic answer was “around two dozen — and the book came in just this week.” Indians are actually buying this book with all its anti-India hysterics? Here is a critical review.

Too bloody late. Anyway, mental note made to ask certain friends and co-bloggers before buying books. (or getting other friends to buy them for me)

How could you not find it in Bombay when I read it in Patiala?!
