Mozilla Firefox loaded

Thanks to the insistence of a fellow blogger who’s far geekier than me, I’ve installed Mozilla Firefox as my default browser.

Arnab was gushing about the Spread Firefox campaign and from a first look, it does seem to be a successful case of viral marketing. But what I really like about Firefox is their policy of giving prizes to those who find security bugs. Here are the first prize winners.

Good on you, If not for their spreadfirefox campaign styling, if not the dashing ff logo, if not the wide spread “Get firefox” buttons, I like firefox for its slickiness and features in the new 1.0 preview release. My latest post talks about it too.

On a more serious note, I guess its not a good idea to put the IP address of the commentor down there with their comments. You never know whether or not they (like me) like it.

It’s something I picked up from MadMan. Gives abusive trolls a warning that their IP address will be on display. Should not be a deterrent to others and anyway, MT logs your IP address.

Well, many people have static IPs; which if not properly firewalled can be mightily screwed with if a nimcompoop decides to go personal with information like this.

In other words, use trim_to=”5″ in your MT template or something like that to show only part of the address. That way you do what you want to, but no ones ass gets fingered.

Fix your freakin’ firewall then! ;)

Every damn web server you visit logs your IP address. Yazad may not know how to hack into your network, but I certainly do. And I’m not the only one. Don’t assume that every site owner is harmless.

Hey, I’m using a static IP too. Try breaking into my PC. :)
