Practice what you preach

A sure sign of poor journalism is not following your own advice. Vinay Kamat & Harish Dugh present an argument in favour of Sachin retiring now. Regardless of the merit of their points, they spoil it all with this:

Why can’t we just let him be. Or not be.

At least have the courage of your conviction guys. If that is what you are going to conclude with, then why write the article at all?

    1. This was in the Times of India.
    2. In a section called “Tabloid Shabloid” (ugh!).

I am amazed you expected quality journalism to begin with.

I guess as bloggers we understand how pathetic writers can be - in their reverse voyeurism…..

Read it and laugh at it…..but make a serious post?…there is another paper that is worth the ridicule - The Hindu.

TOI does not deserve even a ridicule..

Sid, I noticed the “Tabloid Shabloid” part, but decided to ignore it as it’s put up by the powers at TOI, not the writers themselves. I don’t expect quality journalism, but at least not something that would get you a failing grade in school!

Nilu, TOI’s enormous reader base (and therefore its clout with the hoi polloi) makes it something to reckon with and therefore worth engaging.
