Oh, and one other minor point: please do not, at any cost, fall in love and then decide to get married. Why? Because Krishna would not approve. In their words, “Love marriages are nothing but marriages based on lust. The fact is that most love marriages end in a divorce. While most arranged marriages are successful, the alternative to love marriages.”
It is your duty as a Hindu to spread this message to all you know. We are deeply ashamed of our materialism shown by the presence of Google ads on this page.

Does this club/forum (I don’t bother to find out) suggest that in arranged marriages, maried couples (total strangers) plan a spiritual discourse when they are alone for the first time? I find it very lustful and obscene, that two complete strangers (even with saat pheras withstanding)getting physical on the very first meeting.

It’s the folks at ISKCON (see link) making all those claims.
The ISKCON chaps probably have not read the Mahabharata. Sex is actually discussed quite openly. And if the Mahabharata went by ISKCON’s rules concerning marriage, Krishna would not have married Satyabhama, Rukmini and Jambavati. Arjuna would not have eloped with Subhadra. Gandharva weddings would not have taken place and the Pandavas (and Karna) would not have been born.
Incidentally, there is quote on the link talking about “hell”. How did this semitic concept get into Hindu culture?
The ISKCON page reads more like an evangelist’s rant. :-)

ISKCON is the Biggest Joke in Hinduism since that dude from the sixties taught the Beatles. Cults such as ISKCON have no place in Hinduism nor do they have a place in society. And also their so called rishis have less knowledge about their own religon than a chudra farmerboy from trivandrum. In effect they are a con which is clearly stated in their name ISK CON. And arranged marriage give me a break. When Lord Krishna himself had many love marriages. Hippocrite comes to mind. It’s been a long time since all these comments, but I will say that the criticisms on ISKCON are totally unfounded.
To all: The word “Hindu” has no presence in the “hindu” scriptures. They are called Vedic scriptures, Aryan people (no, it is not a racist term. Aryan is someone who knows the meaning of life), Sanatan dharma. Hindu is a word coined by Muslims to designate the people on the other side of the Sindhu river. Moreover, yes, Bollywood movies are demoniac. Why? Because they monkey the Western culture, no matter how depraved, godless and nonsensical. Bollywood movies show girls showing lots of skin, which regular girls in India don’t actually do in real life. Are Bollywood movies not trying to brainwash girls into allowing themselves to be enjoyed by the lusty gazes of one and all even on the streets? To hell with composure, sanity, dignity, says bollywood.
Most ISKCON followers are, or become, vastly learned Vedic scholars. Do not think they don’t know what they are talking about. We cannot compare Krishna’s deeds to those of a normal human being. Krishna is the Supreme. Rules do not apply to Him. Still He usually follows them when He appears in this world for the sake of setting an example. But we should understand that He is completely independent and not be envious. Whatever He does is to enhance the love with His devotees in different types of relationships, i.e. conjugal (like Rukmini, Satyabhama, Radha, etc.), parental (Yashoda, Nanda, Devaki, Vasudeva, elder gopis), friendship (Arjuna, Uddhava), servant (Akrur), and neutral (saints). As more than one devotee wants to enjoy the conjugal relationship with Him, He makes arrangements for them to be able to do so. That is also why He considers both Devaki and Yashoda his mothers.
The Vedic scriptures not only talk about hell. They talk about HELLS. Lower planets, such as Krimilok, Patalalok, etc. where due to our causing suffering to others we have to go and experience great sufferings ourselves. If we do good karmas we can be eligible to going to higher planets, such as Surya, Chandra, or Brahmalok. THere the enjoyment and pleasure experienced can’t be compared with that available in this world. But above good and bad karma is karma for Krishna - the only kind that takes us to the world beyond this material world. Krishnalok. That is teh only eternal residence (sat chit ananda: full of bliss, knowledge and eternal). Others are temporary and will keep us in the cycle of birth and death, suffering and enjoyment. In Krishnalok we are resituated in our eternal loving personal relationship with Krishna.
ISKCON sells Krishna prasadam. Krishna prasadam can be any vegetarian foodstuffs offered to Krishna, including pizza and veg burgers. Eating prasadam elevates your consciousness out of selfish, violent consciousness. It makes you more spiritual minded.
The best kind of marriage is when saintly parents give the girl to a saintly husband who is capable of delivering her from the cycle of birth and death. In the meantime they can procreate and raise saintly God-conscious children who will be an asset to society. Also, in such arrangements the horoscopes are matched, and the chances of good compatibility are maximized. But marriage simply for having sex like cats and dogs or putting on a social mask, whether arranged or not, are at best useless.
There is no stress placed on shivalingam worship in ISKCON. Stress is placed on worshiping Krishna as that comprises the worship of all demigods. Krishna is the source of Lord Vishnu, who is the Deva-deva, God of gods. So there is no questions of Krishna being just another demigod.
The founder Srila Prabhupada did not allow his male and female disciples to simply cohabit. He required that they get properly married. This policy is carried on to date. If someone does not follow it then they are not seriously following ISKCON. For any queries write to krsna_bhajan@yahoo.de
