So did rediff.com Rediff published a retraction. I don't read Asian Age regularly, so I don't know if they did. Many other media outlets must have also carried the story. That is immaterial. Tavleen Singh could have easily double checked. Rashtrapati Bhavan under APJ Abdul Kalam is much more open than earlier. Plus the press release leaves nothing to the imagination. President is downplaying the issue, & rightly so for he probably does not want to add fuel to fire. Please don’t be naive & fooled by Press Release.

But there is definitely a sonia element in it. The rise of the market clearly shows that the investors and gamblers accepted Sonia Gandhi's choice of Manmohan Singh. I personally believe that if there was a suggestion from the President, which most likely seems so, we cannot expect the Rashtrapathi Bhavan to inform the public about it.

This is the only way Sonia Gandhi can provide an explanation for her decision.
