Birthday Week
Published by Yazad Jal April 22nd, 2004 in About MeEvery four years my Parsi birthday moves back one day as the Parsi calendar has no provision for the extra day in a leap year. It’s a good thing as I get to enjoy two birthdays. Over the years the gap between my Parsi roj birthday (which is today) and English date birthday has widened to eight days so I have a nice “birthday week” to celebrate.
And the Indian Navy is firing a few guns off the Gateway in my honour. I’m touched!
Parsi Calendar Update: There are actually three Parsi calendars: Fasli, Shanshahi, and Kadmi (or Qadmi). [AE: and a good deal of confusion] This page explains the concepts and history of the calendar quite well.
For the 1 Parsi visiting my page, I was born on Khordad roj and Adar mah.
May you live long enough to have a whole birthday month!
HIPPY B’DAY!!!!
Have a blast!
Many more to celebrate [with or without the naval salute]!

Hey! Hey!
Happy Birthweek. I thought it was like some time like the 30th or something
Anyways, Happy Happy Birthday
Lucky you :) Happy Birthday!
Ravi, Suns, Ravages, Leela, Many thanks for the greetings.
Ravages, 30th is my “date” birthday. It closes the birthday week.
Ravi, to have a birthday month, I’d have to live to be 120!
So enjoy your bday week then!
I didnt know that a Parsi calender has 365 days every time ..
Whatever…happy birthday! Have a great day/week/month/year…
Thanks aNYa and Jivha for the greetings!
Sal Mubarak Yazad !
Am i the first Parsi here ?
Have a blast - and lets catch up soon.
Hey Yazad - Many happy returns…
So did you wear ‘colour-dress’ and distribute sweets to your colleagues.
The Zoroastrian calender link was quite interesting
hmm… happy belated birthday, or is it still on?
your birthday sounds so much fun.. mine falls at the very end of the year and between christmas and new year no one gives a damn!
plus I feel like i’ve been cheated off a whole year of my life..
