Public Service Announcement
Published by Ravikiran Rao March 18th, 2004 in Web WorldAll those who use Movabletype, please install MT Blacklist on your site to protect against comment spam.
We can add the URLs that the spammers advertise into a blacklist. MT Blacklist will purge the comments containing those URLs from the system and prevent any further comments with those URLs. You can import the blacklists maintained by others into your system. Our list is at http://www.yazadjal.com/blacklist.txt. Feel free to pick it up. Jay Allen also maintains a clearinghouse of blacklisted entries and you can submit any spam that catches your attention here
The faster the blacklisted URLs spread through the blogosphere, the shorter the shelf-life of the URL being advertised. Please use it for all our sanity.
MT-Blacklist 1.63betaRC2, which fixes the comment throttle issue with MT 2.661, is also avaialble and, despite being beta, appears to be quite stable.

I’ve been running this for a couple of months now Ravikiran. Everyday I end up adding atleast 3-4 URLs into the banned list.
You can get that at http://www.jivha.com/blacklist.txt.
yup I know. Just yesterday I imported your blacklist.
