Satyameva Jayate

Shailesh Gandhi and others have launched Satyameva Jayate in response to the heightened degree of corruption and criminalisation in India. This is one of the many civil society responses to the break down on governance.

They have brought out a booklet and the site is the e-manifestation of their efforts. A nice set of articles from various people including Aruna Roy, Nandan Nilekani and Jayaprakash Narayan. And a special cartoon by R K Laxman!

This is an important space for libertarians in India to start making our ideas heard. Many solutions given here may not work. The libertarian solution of simply shrinking government helps directly in reducing corruption. [AE: So why don’t you do some homework and write in to them, post on your blog, etc? Lazy boy!]

It’s mentioned nowhere on the site, so let me fill this breach. Satyameva Jayate means “Truth shall always triumph.” It was a motto used by M. K. Gandhi during India’s independance struggle. After independance, it has become the national motto and it displayed on the bottom of the national emblem — the four lions on the Ashoka pillar.
