Why I love the Aussies
Published by Yazad Jal February 4th, 2004 in Humour, Culture and SocietyThe Aussies have a “we’re gonna do what we’re gonna do and balls to the world” attitude that I love. This lit up my day.
The first passenger train to cross Australia from south to north arrived in Darwin yesterday to be welcomed by women flashing their breasts and men baring their backsides in a mass “moon”.
This particular railway line is called the Ghan in honour of Afghan camel drivers who used to ferry the Aussies before the railway. I don’t think the Aussies realise that ghan in Hindi/Marathi/Gujarati is a crude way of mentioning the backside. So the welcome in some sense was quite fitting.
BTW, we could do with a pic of the mass mooning, but even google came up a cropper!
