Department of unintentional irony
Published by Ravikiran Rao December 1st, 2003 in GovernanceJivha makes a post that essentially says: “If school dropout Uma Bharati can become CM of Madhya Pradesh, why can’t school dropout Sonia Gandhi become PM of India?”
Then he wants Ms. Bharati’s supporters to
‘justify why an illiterate nun is fit to lead India’s largest state instead of giving me adolescent comparative arguments along the lines of “If X can do Y, then so can Z!”’
No, my post does not say that Sonia Gandhi should be eligible for PM because Uma Bharati is eligible for CM.
Nowhere in my post have I justified Sonia Gandhi being considered for PM(although a regular reader may derive that from my blog, but this post, per se, does not say that). So your starting premise is wrong, and is a conclusion that you have derived yourself.
And quite predictably, I see no answers to the main question…
If you have a popular democracy, the only qualification a leader needs is that he/she be popular. That is the alpha and the omega of the qualifications that are needed. Or so I humbly propose.
