Kabul Reconstructions
Published by Yazad Jal November 11th, 2003 in Culture and SocietyAn interesting idea for a blog. In their own words:
Kabul:Reconstructions is an installation and public dialogue project that explores the multiple meanings and resonances of the idea of reconstruction — as both process and metaphor — in the context of present-day Kabul.www.kabul-reconstructions.net is an online discussion forum, information resource, and medium for the communication of questions and answers about the reconstruction between people inside and outside the city of Kabul itself.
The blog is here.
I find the concept worth following although it has quite a lot of existential blah and “multiple meanings” added to confuse. And the webmaster needs to fix the broken links.
Sidelight: I doubt if this would have been possible without the “Great Satan.” For a decade after the Russians left, the Afghans were still bent on destruction. The reconstruction is a post 9/11 phenomenon.
My friend’s brother works in Afghanistan (UN). See his articles in Slate.
