An atheist and a believer
Published by Ravikiran Rao September 3rd, 2003 in Atheism, HumourA believer and an atheist were neighbours. The believer was poor, jobless, lonely and hence completely depressed in life. On the other hand the atheist was rich, had a lovely home and was a happy person. The believer never understood this dichotomy.
Once he sat in front of the idol of god and complained. “Why, oh great one, have you shown no mercy on me? Why is my life such a mess? Why don’t I have one good thing to fall back on. No riches, no family, no love, nothing at all… Why?? And my neighbour, who doesn’t even believe in you, doesn’t ever pray to you, is blessed with all the things I don’t have…Why?”
A loud crack of thunder was followed by a solemn and calm voice from the skies…”Because he doesn’t keep bothering me by calling my name and complaining all the time…”
But I thought we atheists were supposed to be tortured souls with a void where God is supposed to be! And aren’t we also condemned to never know the meaning of life?
[end stereotype]
Hey, I have a fair few Indian bloggers for company - Yazad, Ravi, Kingsley, Gaurav…
All of us heathen will surely burn in the fires of hell. And then we’ll make the devil disappear by not believing in him. :D
