Hep Political Banner

I saw this banner bang opposite the BMC building in South Bombay. It’s one of the “spirit of Bombay survives the blasts” type put up by the Samajwadi party. The last line is mind blowing. Here it is verbatim.

The pigeons are back at Gateway. People are back on track. We won’t budge, we won’t panic. We are proud to be Bombayites. They suck, we rock.

Jai Hind!

Abu Asim Azmi
Rajya Sabha member and President, Samajwadi party, Mumbai

Nasir Jamal
President, Samajwadi Yuva Jan Sabha, Mumbai

They suck, we rock!!! Never heard this kind of language from a political party. Is this a new dawn? Will some kind soul please please take a photograph of the banner for posterity?

Well actually, that message is taken verbatim from a SMS thats been doing the rounds after Monday’s blasts.

What’s the world coming to?!!… political parties can’t even coin their own lines??

    Please do. ASAP.

Saturday’s Indian express (Mumbai) has the pic of the banner on its front page!

Yes, but it conceals the Samajwadi Party names. And it’s not on their website so I can’t link to it. :-(

This message indeed sounds very amateurish.

To my knowledge it was not endorsed by the Samajwadi Party. I have decent friendship with Nasir Jamal and cannot see that coming from him.

Take this for whatever you may:) My 1 cent.

The banner was in many prominent places. (The one I saw was near the Gateway and the Samajwadi Party’s office in Strand is a short walk away. The Indian Express carried a pic of it. If the Samajwadi Party was not involved it would have denied it and protested the use of its name. As it didn’t I assume it was the one who put up the banner. you claim to be a friend of Nasir Jamal. Maybe you should ask him instead of simply assuming that “it cannot come from him”
