Telephone lines and cellphones are down in what seems to be another series of bomb blasts in Bombay. The only source of news trickling in is from the web. As I keep refreshing Rediff, there seem to be more blasts!

1. Gateway of India
2. Zaveri Bazar
3. Pydhonie
4. BMC Headquarters

Uptil now, all in South Bombay.

Update (14:27) Looks like the Zaveri Bazaar and Pydhonie blasts were two different reports of one blast that happened near the Mumbadevi temple that is close to both localities. (Zaveri Bazaar is adjacent to Pydhonie).

Another bit of news filtering in is that these blasts seem to be connected with the report of the ASI revealed in court today that their digging under the erstwhile Babri masjid revealed temple artefacts dating back to the 10th Century AD.

Update (14:48) The BMC’s headquarters opposite VT station have not been hit. Seems to be a BMC office in Marine Lines. That would most probably be the “C” ward office. Phones / mobiles still down. One one call came through and I have been unable to make any calls. The net is also very slow (luckily I have a cable connection otherwise I would be completely cut off)

Update (15:00) Just two blasts. One near the gateway and the second near the Mumbadevi temple. The BMC office one either was a hoax or some quick geography gone awry by a reporter not from Bombay. Marine Lines is not very far from the Mumbadevi temple comes under the BMC’s C ward office located in Marine Lines. But there’s still quite a bit of confusion.

Update (15:27) BMC building blasts confirmed as a hoax. But the body count has gone up dramatically. It was around 12-15 earlier and it’s 50 right now. Mumbadevi is a crowded market area so I fear the number of people killed will be higher.
